S.M THE BALLAD’s “Miss You” originally was SHINee’s?

Last year, the vocal unit group S.M. The Ballad made their debut with the song “Miss You” backed by SHINee’s Jonghyun, Super Junior’s Kyuhyun, The TRAX’s Jay, and newcomer Jino. Recently the composer of the song blogged about the song’s history.

He mentioned that when SHINee made their debut back in 2008, the song was recorded by Onew and Jonghyun with a prelude by Minho’s smooth rap. The song, however, did not fit the album image of “Replay”, so it was cut.

There were plans to release the song as single, but this time it would be sung by SHINee’s Jonghyun, Super Junior’s Kyuhyun, and TVXQ’s Xiah Junsu. The trio’s voices “blended really well” and the song was “attractive”. Two months before the single was to be released, Xiah Junsu filed to break his contract with TVXQ, and once again, the song never premiered.

It was not until a year later that they decided to add Jay from The TRAX and Jino to lend their vocals to what is now known as “Miss You”, S.M. The Ballad’s debut single. The composer went on to say that he will forever treasure the other 2 recordings of the song for his own pleasure.
